Cosmetic

Whitening - Over-the-counter strips, take-home trays, in-office whitening, 10%, 12%, 16 %, 23%, etc, which system is right for you? We can quickly examine your teeth and gums and help you determine which method of whitening best fit your needs. We will discuss safety, effectiveness, and expected results. Today, it’s easier than ever to have a bright beautiful smile!

Crowns - Dental crowns may be the cosmetic solution you need to achieve the dazzling smile you desire. Crowns are tooth-like coverings placed over a carefully prepared preexisting tooth. Crowns serve many functions. For example, crowns are used to strengthen, restore, or improve the appearance of your natural teeth. A crown can support te tooth when there is no longer sufficient tooth structure left to place a filling. Crowns and bridges are made from superior materials such as semiprecious or precious metals, porcelain, or a fused combination of the two. Aesthetics, function, and tissue compatibility are considered when selecting the material most suitable for you.

Bridges - Dental bridges are custom devices anchored to neighboring teeth that replace one or more missing teeth. When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared as crowns to serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic replacement tooth in place.

Veneers - Most veneers are ultra thin shells of porcelain or ceramic material, which are bonded to the front of teeth. Veneers are an ideal choice for improving the appearance of the front teeth. They provide a much more conservative approach to changing a tooth’s color, size, or shape. Porcelain veneers can mask undesirable defects such as teeth stained by tetracycline, by an injury, or as a result of a root canal procedure, and are ideal for masking discolored fillings in front teeth. Patients with gaps between their front teeth or teeth that are chipped or worn may consider porcelain veneers.

Bonding - With the application and sculpting of composite resin, we can restore damaged teeth, fill in gaps, and brighten your smile.
Re-contouring - By removing a small amount of enamel, we can change a tooth’s length, shape, and appearance. Re-contouring is fast and easy, and you’ll enjoy results immediately.

Preventative

Prevention is the key to staying healthy! Dr. Hayden  enjoys helping patients of all ages maintain their healthy smiles.  A plan can be developed that’s right for you using the latest techniques available, from simple cleanings to mouth rinses, toothpastes, and fluorides. Preventive dentistry not only saves your teeth and maintains a beautiful smile, it also saves money!

Patient Education - You’ll receive all the information you need to make informed decisions about your dental care, including tips for brushing and flossing at home.

Regular Cleanings & Exams - Professional cleanings every six months help you maintain a beautiful, fresh smile and optimal oral health.  Regular examinations identify problems at their earliest and most treatable stages.

Sealants - Highly effective in preventing decay on the biting surfaces of your chewing teeth, sealants are a comfortable, simple procedure in which a tooth-colored acrylic "coating" is painted onto the surface of the tooth. This effectively "seals" the deep grooves where decay is most likely to start.

Fluoride - Regular topical fluoride strengthens teeth and is effective in preventing and reversing early signs of tooth decay.

Grinding & Clenching - Grinding and clenching is a major cause of tooth loss.  Frequently unaware of this nocturnal habit, the damage done can be severe, requiring extensive rehabilitation.   A customized guard (also called a splint or night guard) is an effective way to prevent damage to your teeth, jaw joints and muscles.

Mouthguards - A mouthguard is a cushioned appliance that fits over the dental arch to help prevent tooth injury and concussions during contact sports. Our mouthguards are custom-made and provide increased retention and protection over the “boil & bite” type.

General Dentistry

Fillings - If you have a cavity, we’ll help you decide whether a tooth-colored composite or silver amalgam filling is right for you.

Crowns - A crown is a dental restoration that covers a damaged tooth and restores it to original shape, function, and beauty.

Bridges - A bridge is a connected row of artificial teeth that fills in the space left by missing teeth. It connects to two crowns, which we place on either side of the space.

Minor Oral Surgery - We perform common oral surgeries including extractions.

Full & Partial Dentures - Dentures and partials can boost confidence, and make eating and speaking easier.

Implant Restoration - For patients who have lost one tooth or many teeth, dental implants are the modern way to replace these teeth. A titanium tooth root is placed and we can create replacement teeth that look, feel, and function just like natural teeth.

Root Canal Therapy - When a tooth's nerve or pulp area becomes diseased or injured, a special dental procedure called root canal therapy may help save that tooth. If the diseased pulp is not removed, the tooth becomes infected and might need to be extracted. During a root canal, the dentist removes the pulp, cleans the root canal and seals the canal to protect it. Once healed, a crown is placed over the tooth to help make it stronger. Generally, a root canal is a relatively simple procedure with little or no discomfort.

Laser Dentistry - An emerging trend in dentistry, laser technology reduces treatment time, eliminates noisy drilling and has distinct, long-term oral health benefits. Ankeny Dental Arts has been on the leading edge of laser dentistry for gum treatments and decay.

Intraoral Camera - An advanced optical tool used during examinations and dental procedures, this tiny probe-like apparatus captures full-color images inside the mouth. The images appear on a flat screen or overhead monitor for viewing by the patient and dentist throughout the procedure. This state-of-the-art technology helps pinpoint potential problem areas, and makes the "co-treatment" process easier for the patient to visualize and understand.

Periodontal

Assessment - We do full mouth gum pocket measurements at your new patient visit and at least yearly.  We carefully examine the gums for signs of bleeding, infection, tissue health and tooth mobility.
Scaling and planing - A thorough cleaning of the roots of your teeth can yield remarkable improvements.

Orthodontics

Invisalign® - Invisalign® is the “invisible” way to straighten your teeth without wearing conventional metal braces. Invisalign uses a series of custom made aligners that are changed approximately every two weeks. These aligners are worn twenty-four hours a day, except for when you eat, drink, or brush or floss your teeth. Learn more about Invisalign.

Traditional Orthodontics- Dr. Hayden prefers to treat most children and young adults without extracting teeth. Non-extraction orthodontics lends itself to a full beautiful smile. As a recent edition of “The View” television show discussed: Non-extraction orthodontics will fill out our facial features and lead to less facelifts and plastic surgery as we age. A beautiful smile achieved with braces is now easier and more comfortable than ever! Ask Dr. Hayden to show you his smile, which is his motivation to provide non-extraction orthodontics whenver appropriate for his patients.

Emergency Dental Treatment-Same Day Emergency Dental Treatment is usually available.

Dr. Hayden will do his utmost to see emergency dental patients on the same day that they call the office. No one likes to suffer with tooth pain and we will find a way to make you comfortable as soon as possible.
